Communicating with Teachers

There is a strong correlation between successful learning outcomes for students and positive partnerships between teachers and parents. Our teachers welcome communication and collaboration with parents and community members to support students’ learning and wellbeing. If you need to make an appointment to meet with your child’s class teacher or support teacher, or to communicate important information, the best way is by emailing the school office: gundaroo-p.school@det.nsw.edu.au or the teacher directly.

Please be mindful of the volume and frequency of email communication with teachers. Managing a high volume of emails can impact on the time they have to prepare programs and assess students’ progress.

Teachers are usually able to have a brief exchange in the playground before or after school, but please be aware that they are not able to engage in a detailed conversation when supervising their class or on playground duty. Please make an appointment to see them at a time when they can give you their full attention, and do not have a duty of care for students.

As a school community, we value the relationship we have with our parents and carers. Together we will be better able to support the learning journey of our students. We welcome opportunities to partner with you and to discuss your child's learning throughout the year and encourage you to contact your child's teacher/s if you wish to discuss their progress and learning goals.

There are many ways that Gundaroo Public School communicates and partners with our school community, including:

  • parent/teacher interviews, face-to-face or online
  • three-way learning conferences
  • email updates
  • online platforms
  • review meetings

To answer questions or to discuss your child's learning, please contact the school:

In 2022 the school updated communication procedures in consultation with the school community. The aim of this document is to;

  • Provide a clear communication process for staff, families and community members to follow
  • Establish clear and concise boundaries for communications
  • Ensure that the rights of students, parents and staff are respected and upheld
  • Ensure students, parents, staff and other visitors are not subjected to inappropriate behaviours or interactions
